Today we like to present to the world «Versos del Sur. Muestra de ecopoesía chilena». This edition, the second volume of our ecopoetics collection, is dedicated to the poetry that exists among Chile’s territories, natures, and cultures. It is an anthology of poetry, poetic texts, and songs of the twentieth and twentieth-first century coming from our sister territory of the southern hemisphere. Among the varied contents of this anthology are, for example, the spiritual and ecological light of Gabriela Mistral indigenous roots and the poems of the ecopoetic assembly in the Anthropocene of the young poet Andrés González. The anthology includes well-known authors from Chilean Literature such as Pablo Neruda, Violeta Parra, and Elicura Chihuailaf which are reread from a critique of the land. It also includes authors little known outside Chile and who reveal themselves as ecological and spiritual representatives of ecopoetry, such as the peasant poet Óscar Castro and the contemplative Luis Oyarzún. Versos del Sur places particular emphasis on the decentralization of voices and intends to go beyond the urban canon. For example, we find poets from the Andean north (Aymara) such as Pedro Humire, from the southern Patagonian and island such as Idania Yáñez and the Polynesian Rapa Nui in the voice of Sofía Abarca Fariña. Here Chile is reconfigured as a territory with a plurality of names and worlds. It is Rapa Nui and the Country of the Bees, the territory of the Andean tutelary w’akas, and the territory of rural lares, the environment of the problematic monocultures of the central region and the FutaWilliMapu of the southern lands that dream in Mapuzungún. Likewise, it includes forms of poetry that dazzle for their richness and avant-garde, from the paths of connection that oral music opens to the topophilic poetry of Raúl Zurita. Pedro Favaron and Ángela Parga have found a harmonic dumbbell that summons top-level commentators to speak about these voices. They have made an anthology from a different, critical, radical, and spiritually visionary reading of the poetry made in Chile, one born from thinking and feeling with the poetry of Mother Earth.
